Even centuries after, German medieval castles continue to amaze with their magnificence and beauty. Hohenzollern Castle is one of such dreamy places. It was built about a thousand years ago on top of Mount Hohenzollern, an isolated mountain 855 m (2,805 ft) above sea level.

Sorry to disappoint you, I'm from that region and that version of the castle was actually built and reconstructed mid-1800 in Neo-Gothic style to resemble older castles... still very beautiful there though ;-)
