When famous personalities want to astonish their guests with an incredible cake, there’s only one person they turn to – 82 year old confectioner Sylvia Weinstock. Whether the client asks a bunch of flowers or a copy of some favorite thing, for Sylvia it’s a piece of cake.
The price of a cake can reach $65,000.
The cake for Liza Minnelli and David Gest's wedding
Clintons and Kennedys are also among Sylvia’s clients.
Sylvia has been making cakes for 30 years
Sylvia Weinstock lives and works in Manhattan. Depending on the complexity of the order it takes at least 24 hours for her to make a cake. Every detail of her confections is edible.
Weinstock tries to keep her prices reasonable, but she thinks that there is no problem if someone throwing a $4 million party buys a $60,000 cake.

Some people love these kinds of feature cakes and if they are willing to pay for them so what? It's not like the bakers who make the cakes are millionaires. It takes a lot of time from many highly skilled workers to achieve a beautiful feature cake. Usually these kinds of cakes seem to cost a few thousand dollars in the US but making them is not cheap either. I'm pretty sure cakes that cost 65.000 are pretty rare, but like the lady said if someone is using millions of dollars on a party then a cake that costs 65.000 is just a small part of expenses.
