The tiny blue dot in the middle of the brown stripe at the top of the image is our planet Earth seen from the distance of 6 billion kilometers.

This is a photograph of planet Earth taken in 1990 by the Voyager 1 spacecraft from a record distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) from Earth. The spacecraft, which had completed its primary mission and was leaving the Solar System, was commanded by NASA to turn its camera around and to take a photograph of Earth across a great expanse of space.

The Voyager 1 spacecraft is a 722-kilogram (1,592 lb) robotic American space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977, to study the outer solar system and eventually interstellar space. Operating for more than 34 and a half years, the spacecraft receives routine commands and transmits data back to the Deep Space Network. It is the first probe to leave the solar system and is the farthest man-made object from Earth.

I wonder how long it took the signal to get to Voyager. Then too, where'd that brown stripe come from. The picture shows how insignificant we really are.
