So it's basically just them telling you openly what they've been already doing secretly all along.

it's between a rock and a hard place- china and other nations really are putting massive efforts in to online espionage. meanwhile, dishonest companies and individuals are thriving with consumer info they have no right to.

there's just not a perfect solution, here. i say let the govt do what it needs to do and let the consumer remove himself from the net as much as possible. or maybe i'm very wrong and there's an ever better solution out there...

Are you guy's kidding. This is the end of the Internet, now we get to be just like China and North Korea, the Government gets to censor the web. There is no "rock and a hard place", you want to stop corporate espionage send a little money on security!! don't change the laws to reduce online free speech

you want to stop corporate espionage send a little money on security!!

it's not "a little money," it's not clear who should be paying (govts vs corps), and it's not even clear that throwing money at the issue is the most effective response.

reality is changing, and the internet has to follow suit. anything else, including simple solutions that don't work, is just longing for the past.
