A guy who spilled water on his laptop found no other way of drying it apart from putting the device into a hot oven. Luckily, he was bright enough to detach the battery.

Should have let it air dry over several days. Or use a hair dryer..

never use a hair dryer, instead use a air blower.

His main mistake was using a conventional oven. Common sense should tell you that if it got wet inside, you need to put it into a microwave oven to dry it. Some people are so stupid...

if that happened to me i'd probably disassemble it as much as i could before trying to dry it. it would dry quicker, require less air / heat, and you could be more secure that all parts were truly water-free.

Best way is to rinse it in pure alcohol. That will replace the water, and the alcohol wil dissolve completely.

pure alcohol won't magically replace water or any other liquid unless there's some chemical reaction at work, which you probably don't want to get in to in the first place on your valued laptop.

absolutely pure alcohol is also quite expensive to obtain without setting up a mini distillery. either way, that's a whole lot of time and money unnecessarily spent to replace the work of doing a smart and strategic drying job.
