many of these were undoubtedly not the very first paintings they did... moreso a mixture of first ones they were willing to make public and/or very early paintings of theirs that became famous.

in other words, even geniuses have to work hard at their craft. nobody rolls out of bed and paints "rouelles," not even monet. :P
