These pictures show a few of the many instances of pilots attempting to land at the Kai Tak airport and crashing into the water or hitting buildings. The Hong Kong government closed the airport in 1998 due to its poor safety record.

according to WP it was one of the trickier airports, but as usual in the blogosphere, great exaggeration makes for the most-clicked posts. ie, it was tough stuff, but far from the most dangerous airport.
