#1 A desert is not a desert because of the temperature, but because of lack of rain. There are also cold deserts, McMurdo dry valleys in Antarctica for example. Many hot deserts are quite cold during the nights.
#5 So true! When they rescued all the dwarfs from the tree, why didn't they fly all the way to Smaug's apartment? They could see it from that cliff top.
