This possum turned up on the porch. I thought my dogs had killed her, but I could see she was still breathing.

Turns out she was "playing possum" but I saw that she had this around her neck. You can see that it must have been on there for a long time. The plastic had cut about a third of an inch into her skin.

So, I cut it off.

Then she sat up, motionless for about a half hour.

I've never see an animal look so dejected.

Finally, about thirty minutes after cutting the plastic off, she walked down the steps and into the woods. I hope she's doing alright.

I can confirm. I gave my wife a plastic ring. Barely survived by replacing it with a gold ring just in time.
