The boy is Belal. He had seen a baby deer fall into the river and jumped in without a moment's hesitation.
He held the fawn above water with just one arm, while he himself remained submerged. People looked on, anxiously waiting for him to surface.
Slowly, his head emerged from beneath the water...
He made his way onto dry land to the cheers of others from his town.
They were both cold, wet, and exhausted... but alive.
