Um... yeah. Something smells really fishy about this. Even if an egg was fertilized AND made it through screening, the probability of it being one of the four she tried to incubate is just ridiculous!!

i could be wrong, but i think parthogenesis occurs in higher life forms occasionally, such as birds.

IIRC correctly the quail is fairly closely-related to fowl, which are the most ancient of living birds. so y'know... maybe?
