i've seen it before because i study animals, but i didn't realise it could exist at sea level without exploding due to pressure differential.

if you study animal, you should know many deepsea creatures were captured and brought to land and taken photos... they don't explode, they just die...

with deep sea fish it relates to the swim bladder. if they have a swim bladder, then depending on their natural depth and how fast they're brought to the surface, they can either swell up, have some organs ejected through their mouths, or actually explode. here's a little info:
