Chuck Norris:
"It's cute. But here's what I really think about the theory of evolution: It's not real. It is not the way we got here. In fact, the life you see on this planet is really just a list of creatures God has allowed to live."
Ben Stein:
"Darwinism asks us to believe that you can destroy genetic material through random mutation and natural selection and yet end up with more genetic material. We don't really ask you to believe anything that difficult; it is sort of innate in mankind to believe that there is a God, a heavenly Father and we're asking you to just follow the consequences of that and see if possibly there could be some scientific validity to that."
Ann Coulter:
"I would like evolution to join the roster of other discredited religions, like the Cargo Cult of the South Pacific."
Pat Buchanan:
"That Darwinism has proven 'disastrous theory' is indisputable."
Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee:
"If anybody wants to believe that they are the descendants of a primate, they are certainly welcome to do it. I don't know how far they will march that back. But I believe that all of us in this room are the unique creations of a god who knows us and loves us and who created us for his own purpose."
George W. Bush:
"The jury is still out on evolution."
Sarah Palin:
"Growing up with being so privileged and blessed to be given a lot of information on, on both sides of the subject -- creationism and evolution. It's been a healthy foundation for me. But don't be afraid of information and et kids debate both sides."
Kirk Cameron:
"If the anti-Christian agenda will say, 'Here's your identity, you're an evolved amoeba who ought to just go do whatever you want and don't let anybody tell you different.'"
We musn't believe conspiracy theories about 9/11, but it would have to believe in the theory of evolution :D
What if a magical pony created god to create evolution?
You can pretty much say it about anything. Right now there is evidence for evolution (thousands of evidence) and absolutely none for god.
what we're really talking about is mankind's deep fear of ambiguity. many people simply aren't cut out to handle the level of unknowns involved in something like evolution or the BBT. so i have no problem with such folks needing to believe in god or whatever.
life is short, so do what you gotta do to keep yourself together, brother
"Well yes, He loves me... but a long time ago somebody ate an apple from his tree and that kinda pissed him off, so He kicked everyone out. Later though He decided that wasn't enough, so he tried to drown them all. Awhile later he decided that the only way we could atone for our 'sin' was to nail His son to a cross and kill him, so we had to do that. But He loves me! I know He does! Even if He does tell me that if I make the slightest screwup He's going to dump me into a fiery pit and listen to my screams for all eternity. No, really, he loves me! What are you doing with that funny jacket and those manacles?"
fact is-- people need solutions, sources of strength, divinity... wherever they may find such sacredness / fortitude in their lives.
i personally need it, my friends and loved ones need it... pretty much all healthy people i've ever met need the same.
