The battle for Syria’s largest city is going on for almost four and a half years. Recently a ceasefire agreement was reached allowing civilians to evacuate. Over 30 thousands people are reported as victims since the beginning of the war in 2012, and one of the world’s most famous cities built of white marble, which Aleppo was, now lies in ruin. This includes the Great Mosque built in 8th century and the citadel of Aleppo. These photos remind of Europe post-World War II and it’s heartbreaking that some of the damage to this ancient city is beyond recovering.
