As an American, I'm proud to give answers as best as I can. *ahem* 1. There are other colors, but red seems to be the most popular one and seems to rapidly becoming the icon. *shrug* I don't know why. 2. Yep. 3. Being several years removed from public schools, I can't tell you for sure. It wasn't a problem when I was a kid, but we were definitely tougher than the current crop of snowflakes. Your main mistake, however, is in believing what American TV shows you. I'd take everything they say with at least a grain of salt. 4. Yes, because it's supposed to save on room and board. (The key word there is "supposed to".) 5. I've long wondered that myself. I think it's a tradition, like candy canes. 6. Nope. 7. Yep. 8. Mostly, although it does cover other aspects. 9. You'll have to ask the Mexicans with their quinceaneras. 10. Why is your water level so low? Don't you know you can't flush the, uh, remnants with a thimble-full of water? 11. Yes. I was brought up to not refer to women with that term, but the generation afterward thought it was cool, so.... 13. A corn dog is a little bit of heaven. It's essentially a hot dog completely surrounded by bread on a stick. 14. A nightcap is a drink, usually alcoholic, taken at night, either right before you go to bed or right after to relax you. 15. Miracle Whip is mayonnaise in a jar, and the best of all of them. 16. You know, I never noticed that before, I just accepted it that that was the way it is. I guess it is just the same. 17. *sigh* Technically, no, because a comedian is funny, and Will... isn't. 18. The prom is when seniors (high schoolers in their last year of high school) celebrate by having a dance. 19. That's the Kool-Aid Man. Back in the 70's and 80's, there was a series of commercials in which somebody would set up his appearance by saying, "Oh no!", and he would burst through the wall and yell, "Oh yeah!" You might want to look for these commercials on YouTube if you are really curious about them. 20. Because we are very proud of our country. 21. You're telling me! It's why Netflix and other services like that are popular. 22. Some people blame our Puritan past, but I don't think that's it.
