They looked at everything from terrorist attacks, violent crimes, overdoses, suicides, financial safety including rates of insurance, unemployment, debt, road safety, car accidents, workplace safety, emergency preparedness, and more. The states were then rated on a 100-point scale. Below are the ten least safe states followed by the ten safest states with their scores adjacent. Higher score means it’s safer, lower score means it’s less safe.
