An unexpected visitor
The dog presumably got inside the car through the open window. It was totally skin and bones, sad, hungry, and extremely exhausted.
Bill decided to let the dog stay and shared some cookies — the only food he had with him — with the animal. It seems his new travel buddy knew exactly who to choose — Bill already had 3 other stray dogs at home that he had adopted.
On the way home, Bill sent a picture of their new family member to his wife. She liked the surprise, instantly agreed to keep the dog, and wanted to name her River.
Meeting the new family
Upon arrival, something unexpected happened — River refused to leave the car — they’re thinking she probably had many bad things happen to her in her life and just felt more secure inside. That’s why Bill took her in his arms and carefully brought her into her new home, where River met her new family and fellow dog siblings.
After feeding, washing, and grooming her, the family set up a special cozy and warm sleeping place next to a space heater for their newest member. The next morning River was taken to the vet for a checkup. Turns out, she had some neck and face wounds that were probably there due to a fight, as well as tapeworms and heartworms. Luckily, after a little while, she was completely healed and started to thrive.
The happy ending
River turned out to be a very loving and faithful dog — a friend any of us would be honored to have.
