Your stat is incorrect. The suicide attempt rate among transgender individuals in general is around 41%. A lot of people point to this as proof of their "illness," except when asked, individuals who survive attempts list the top three reasons for their attempt as 1.) Sexual assault after being outed, 2.) Physical violence based on their appearance/identity, 3.) Being homeless/jobless due to hiring discrimination.

We as a nation have become preoccupied with the exterior, the packaging, the outer appearance of things, forgetting their true essence. A man is a man, a woman is a woman. No amount of hormones, surgery, makeup, clothes and denial can change that.
Having people who are so sick, sad, broken and disturbed that they feel they should mutilate their bodies, destroy their health and fake their appearance to present themselves to society as the OPPOSITE gender is an actual catastrophe.
Because instead of seeking professional health, they're normalizing a serious mental disorder that leads to more people thinking this is somehow acceptable.
Worse of all, those people become the walking definition of hypocrisy - having refused to accept themselves for who they are - they are asking everyone else to accept their self-delusion. And that's scary, disgusting and simply morally wrong.
