Don't know about Germany but here in NZ my tax bill is 17% of my income, and my heart bypass cost nothing. Your fantastic USA is corrupt and YOU pay for that.
Depending to your income, in Germany you pay from 14% up to 42% of your income, plus healthinsurance and insurance for the case of unemployment.
