ZombieDarwin, While it has been claimed that Borglum was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, an article in the Smithsonian Magazine denies that there is proof that he officially joined the KKK. That said, he became "deeply involved in Klan politics", attending Klan rallies and serving on Klan committees.

In 1925, having only completed the head of Robert E. Lee, Borglum was dismissed from the Stone Mountain project, with some holding that it came about due to infighting within the KKK, with Borglum involved in the strife. Later, he stated "I am not a member of the Kloncilium, nor a knight of the KKK," but Howard Shaff and Audrey Karl Shaff claim that "that was for public consumption."The museum at Mount Rushmore displays a letter to Borglum from D.C. Stephenson, the infamous Klan Grand Dragon who later was convicted of the rape and murder of Madge Oberholtzer. The 8x10 foot portrait contains the inscription "To my good friend Gutzon Borglum, with the greatest respect." Correspondence from Borglum to Stephenson during the 1920s detailed a deep racist conviction in Nordic moral superiority and strict immigration policies.
Just sayin'.

Jay, if he was a member of the Klan in the 20's, then he was also a "Democrat"

they always leave that part out, wonder why?

Jay,

Yes, I read the same Wikipedia article. The evidence was, to put it as gently as possible, a bit thin.

So you can say all you like, but until more evidence shows up, I'll label it as horse sh*t.

#29. Musa was a strong leader. He also owned thousands of slaves, and profited immensely by charging a toll on slaves (which were property) as they were transported through his country.

The history of Mali is taught in BLM reading sessions in public schools. Mali is looked at with pride. A nation of warriors. Black leaders who built one of the richest nations on Earth. This is all true.

But BLM does not teach children that the Mali people were slavers, for hundreds of years. It was an important part of their wealth and culture. And all the gold that was mined in Mali? Do you think that was done by unionized workers?

Izi, if you're going to smear the builder of Mount Rushmore (who DID have ties to the KKK, but never joined and was never a "card-carrying member"), then tell the whole truth about Mali, too.

Musa owned slaves. He sold slaves. He killed slaves. He raped slaves. He makes Donald Trump look like an angel.

History isn't always pretty.

Lessie, Emperor Caligula had thousands of slaves too but you didn't mention him. Why don't you complain that izi didn't tell the whole truth about him?

Plus our general education, 6 weeks paid vacation per year, paid sick leave, less than 1 murder per 10.000 inhabitants, less than 10 kills per year by police and a government that takes Corona seriously because of scientific evidence. JC-LOL
