#68, that's a passive solar panel for heating water. It probably gets too hot in the summer.

Elizabeth, Maybe the 6 million Jews that the German soldiers killed, and all of the other war crimes they were responsible for, negated the desire to pursue war crimes against the US?

Elizabeth,[quote=Elizabeth] i looked it up and this is what i got

What happened to German POWs?
After World War II, German prisoners were taken back to Europe as part of a reparations agreement. They were forced into harsh labor camps. Many prisoners did make it home in 18 to 24 months, Lazarus said. But Russian camps were among the most brutal, and some of their German POWs didn't return home until 1953.

In its report of 1974 they found that 3,060,000 German military personnel were taken prisoner by the USSR and that 1,094,250 died in captivity (549,360 from 1941 to April 1945; 542,911 from May 1945 to June 1950 and 1,979 from July 1950 to 1955). According to German historian Rüdiger Overmans

not sure what you wanted us to find but all's fair in love and war

^Lizy, after what the Germans did, all Germans were fair game for the Soviets. The Soviets were too kind.

Elizabeth,
So invading Poland and France, unprovoked is now called "being forced into war?" This is revisionism and it is vile.shame on you. My family was there.as were countless other.the history is known, recorded, not subject to speculation or fantasy.

While yes the Germans were forced into war, moreover the fact that nobody talks about that is most telling. Just like no body ever mentions that the US did everything possible in order for Japan to attack, then they let them and cried foul only to commit the worst war crime of all history. What the Germans did to Russia was a unspeakable. Russians had every right to slaughter every German and take their landfor good. They should have. I am Russian both great grandfathers went through the war. The fact that Russia was left raped and ravaged while America profited is not a coincidence. The reason why we never hear about American and British war crimes is because the run the show, they provoked, funded, fueled and profited from this war as they do with most. The goal was always the genocide of the Slavic people. 20+ million is no coincidence (the millions no one ever mentions, hmmm). As for the Stalin arguement while it has merit, whoes bidding was he really doing? The fire bombing of Dresden was more about hiding our hidden history, but thats a rabbit hole for another day. 27

Ollie,

Your ignorance of history should be considered a war crime. The only sentence you get right in your little crybaby rant was, "What the Germans did to Russia was a [sic] unspeakable." Everything else is fit for nothing but the garbage can.

FFS, you all are arguing about WW2 now!? Tell me any country that isn’t guilty of war crimes and absolute cruelty and torture to human beings in war? Just an FYI, the US had a draft for WW2 which means those soldiers, literally teenagers, were forced into war, too!

Also FYI, the religious and war atrocities of every single nation aren’t taught in local schools, or are manipulated, for obvious reasons. This is true of every nation. The US is no different than any other country.

Sue, I'm guessing that's a photo of soviet soldiers and it was just used to "illustrate" the story.

Lan,

Because Greenland sharks have unusual skeletal structures, scientists couldn’t use regular vertebral growth rings in a recent study. Instead, they used a different method called bomb radiocarbon. The testing of nuclear weapons in the 1950s and ’60s fundamentally changed the planet in a way we can measure. Animals born after that point have evidence of this “bomb pulse” in their tissues. And those animals born before it don’t have that signature, or have a measurably different version of it (this is of course a huge oversimplification of complex mathematical and biogeochemical principles, but it works for our purposes here). The Greenland shark researchers in the paper you asked about used eye lenses, because this tissue doesn’t change much as you age and grow. They found an amazing result: Greenland sharks are probably the longest-lived vertebrate animals on Earth! (Take this result with a grain of salt because this aging method has a margin of error, but Greenland sharks still probably live a really long time.) Also, sometimes, as in the case of great white sharks a few years ago, scientists use a combination of bomb radiocarbon and traditional vertebral ring work.
