“Alien. They’d butcher it. Everything that makes it great would be thrown out in favour of “ooooh scary jumpscare” for the whole runtime”
“Schindler’s List. Hollywood, don’t you f@#king dare”
“Back to the Future”
“The Lord of the Rings trilogy.”
“Forrest Gump.
It’s one of those characters that literally nobody else can play besides Tom Hanks. The special effects still hold up. Not a whole lot has changed culturally, at least nothing that would have an effect on the story. If it were made in 2020 instead of ‘93, then the flashbacks would go to the 80s, 90s, and 00s instead of 60s, 70s, and 80s. Maybe a joke thrown in about Forrest inspiring Bill Gates or Steve Jobs.
It’s an interesting thought experiment, but a remake is wholesomely unnecessary.”
“The Monty Python movies. Why would you even attempt to remake pure genius?”
“The Shawshank Redemption”
“Imagine if they remade Cats (2019) but made it even worse”
“Clue! The original with Tim Curry, Martin Mull, Christopher Lloyd, etc. It’s such a classic. Instead of remaking it they should remaster it and re-release it. There’s so much comedic genius and great acting in the original, and the comedy still holds true years later. No reason to try and update/change it.”
“The Truman Show. Nowadays, everyone posts everything they do online anyway, so the concept that someone has cameras following their every move no longer seems as implausible as it once did. The original is perfect and a remake would just raise more questions than they want”
“The Big Lebowski”
“Groundhog Day. Don’t remake it, just re-release the original and add 2 in the title.”
“The sound of music”
“Goonies was perfect. A remake is guaranteed to suck.”
“The Silence of the Lambs”
“The Fifth Element. The vibe, characters, music, costumes, everything was so great that any remake would pale in comparison.”
“Pulp Fiction”
“The Princess Bride
‘There’s a shortage of perfect films in this world. ‘Twould be a pity to damage this one.'”
“The Breakfast Club. I WILL RIOT if they try to remake this with some youtube/instagram/tween stars”
“Stand By Me. It’s already perfectly cast, performed, and produced.”
Still, I don't understand why Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets was ignored.
Brenden totally pulled off the same comic book inspiration and it bombed.
