“Alligator po boy. Tastes like chicken but better spices.”

“The brisket from Rose’s Luxury in DC. The brisket was so good that after dessert, we ordered a second round of brisket for second dessert.”

“I once ate a bunch of dried mangoes that my mom bought from this island called Guimaras. It wasn’t like just one or two packs of dried mangoes; I ate 15-20 packs of dried mangoes in one sitting because they were that good. Apparently, they were made by monks.”

“Chicken liver mousse from a restaurant called Thoroughbred in Toronto.”

“Franklin Barbecue in Austin, TX.

You have to wake up at 5am and wait in line for about 4 hours if you want it. But, dear god is it worth it when those delicious ribs fall off the bone and into your mouth.”

“Honestly, “peasant food” from my parents’ home country of Cuba. It’s corn grits or white rice with black beans and fried eggs on top. Very cheap and I grew up on it so it reminds me of home.”

“Chicken shawarma and fries I got in Amsterdam. Maybe because I was a bit stoned and the scenery was beautiful but I’ll never had a shawarma and fries as tasty as the ones I had in Amsterdam.”

“Grilled salmon.

Not usually a big fish fan, but good salmon is better than any beef I’ve tasted.”

I got if from a butcher shop on the east coast of Canada that had some specialty meats.”

“I was in Austin a while ago and looked for the nicest restaurant I could find.

Perry’s steakhouse. Prime ribeye. Better than sex.”

“Doner Kebabs in Munich and across Germany”

“Gator sausage from the Chicago Dog House.”

“The most delicious thing I have ever eaten was a slice of orange in the middle of my first marathon. It’s amazing how being exhausted and dehydrated can make anything taste amazing. Most of it was probably due to it being my first thing to contain sugar in during the first 20 miles of the run.”

For almost every latin person it's refried beans, fried egg, plantain, avocado, cheese or crema and a toasty tortilla (or arepa). From Mexico to Colombia it reminds them of growing up, mom, grandma, family etc. It's really unique. If you have Latin friends ask them about it.
