That is a "vision from unknow artists"

But from times B.C. there is many paintings, draws, "frescos" or mosaics that represent lions, crocodiles, elephants and others animals very real.

Dont forget that Anibal travel from North Africa, trough Spain and Pyrenees Mounts to combat the roman empire in Rome (Italy now). The people in Europe, and Nort Africa now very well how this animals are...
