uhh...veteran <i>by definition</i> means you were in the military, i.e., "automatically"
Being employed by the military is just a job. A real vet has been in combat or at least deployed in a combat zone.

I wish they'd pass a law clearly stating that the seat you sit on and the back of the seat in front of yours (that has your pull-down tray and screen/monitor) belong to you alone during the entire ticketed flight. The person in the seat in front of you doesn't have the right to encroach on your paid space any more than the person to the seats to the side have trespassing on your seating space.
