#1 - absolutely false. Quarantine comes from a 14th century Venician word and refers to the 40 day period of isolation before a ship and crew could disembark during a bubonic plague outbreak.

Absolutely false is a bit strong. They are referring to the writ "de quarantina habenda" included in the Magna Carta, created 1215. It was designed for the protection of the woman who had just lost her husband and who faced imminent eviction from her home by an unsympathetic heir or lord. And isn't the word quarantine derived from latin?

Alexandria,
Only insofar as Venetian is derived from Latin. "Quarantena" means "40 days"

Prior to this usage they were just called "medical isolations," never quarantines. Your reference is to a completely unrelated thing. Just because words look alike does not mean they share the same etymology. The fact is wrong.

I see that medieval life expectation fact a lot. That's AVERAGE life expectancy. Which includes the incredibly high death rate of babies, small children, and during childbirth. In some areas and times, children weren't even named for a time after birth to make it easier if they died. Also one of the reasons people had so many children.
If someone made it to their teens they had a pretty good chance to make it to 60 or 70.

Merv,
Seriously ? That's the meaning of average... If one reach 0 and the other one 60, it makes 30 as an average...

#10 is probably cover for periods of mental instability as he was mentally ill.

#17 includes child mortality, as it was high during the the middle ages it skews the life expectancy.

#10 is wrong. He was in a stuper, cause by mental illness, not actually asleep. He had no such sleep disorder.
