Do Americans really have a much better quality of life? Yes, yes we do. Are other countries jealous and snarky? Yes, yes they are!

Edny, they aren’t being snarky. Just curious kids mostly. It’s different in every country. Most of our schools are pretty good - some bad ones in the inner city but some excellent ones in the ‘burbs.

Edny,

Dunning Kruger syndrome. 75% of 'murican taxpayers received incometax refund in 2019... in laymen's terms - 3/4 of your population is poor enough to get assistance from the govt. Ignorance is a bliss...

Mira, You don’t know what a refund is. The government isn’t giving us anything. They are returning a portion of what we paid to them. Not even the entire amount.

Edny,
As an austrian from Vienna, I have the highest standard of living worldwide, if you start it like that.
And by beeing curious and wondering why customs in other countrys are different is not jealousy, it plain and simple curiosity.
Why do you have hall passes for real, for example? We dont have anything like that in Austria. Kids just go to the bathroom if they need to.
Is it really snarky to ask why this is a thing?
Not everything you read on the internet is meant as an offence.

As a german with californian relatives which I visit regularly I can understand almost all of those questions. Some are stupid but some are everything but obvious and very, very movie related.

What do americans think anyways? That every european knows how an american school works? No, we don't and mostly we don't care so these questions only come up during movies.

Lena,
americas dont ask how others do anything cause they belive everything they do is the right way....thats the reason in the us living like 90% morons - they still thinking hitler is still alive...

Margo, nobody in the US thinks Hitler is still alive, unless they're very old and suffering from Alzheimer's. Also, if you're going to criticize the intelligence of others, it might help to brush up a bit on proper grammar before commenting.

Most appear to be written by the same person, using the exact same starting phrase (“Do American schools...”). Not believable.

#22 I drove to high school on a snowy day, but the school was closed so people didn’t have to drive there in the snow.

There is still one thing that confuses - There is some middle school in the USA I see in movies - In all other countries, there is Primary school age 6-13 and high school age 13-18. Then you leave school for college/University. Strange indeed.
