Well now see...that's the less pleasant side of nature is that although the penguin population would have been over a thousand, the dogs kinda cull the herd, so the short answer is that the penguins feed the dogs.

Seriously educate yourself. The lemmings thing was a Disney farce where they put the animals on a huge rotating platform. Lemmings don't self suicide.
