Or take the value of the TV and the current minimum wage then calulate how many hours they owe. They can work it off at grandmas house, a nursing home, a soup kitchen, picking up trash along a highway, etc...
Taking their time away from the device they where playing when it happened will have more of an impact on them. It also creates a positive impact on others, not breeding resentment for a parent inflicting physical pain.
