I researched this river. In short, it does kill just about anyone that enters. It's due to the river (upstream) being funneled into a smaller width downstream. The river basically turns on it's side at this point. I Youtube'd the rivers name and found some very interesting facts as to why it's so deadly. In a word; deceptive.
There is at least one story of an 8 year old boy and his older brother falling in. The older boy managed to get out. Still supposedly nearly all drown and most bodies are never recovered.
Agreed, but the greatest threat for totalitarian authoritarianism in the West is currently coming from the intolerant and censorious progressive/socialist/leftist/communist faction which has amply demonstrated in the past to be every bit as vile and murderous as the Nazis.
