100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m and 10,000m. Then there is 110m and 400m hurdling, relay racing (4x100m and 4x400m) and finally the men's 3000m steeplechase. That's 12 medals in one single game, and only two different techniques to master, as opposed to swimming where there are more techniques.
