You can't compare revenue from 2008 with today, 14 years in inflation is a lot of time.
More fair will be a comparison with the spectators who buy tickets to see the movies.

1 USD in 2008 equals to roughly 1.34USD in 2022.
And if you see, at all the movies, only Spider-man: Far from home did well of the newer movies. (Probably because it was a Sony and not Marvel production.)
