They were not millenials - they didn't bike through ISIS territory, not even close - they didn't try to prove humans are kind. It's a big lack of disrepect for their memory to keep spreading this far-right stupid headline
The couple chose to bike through the Muslim country of Tajikistan with another group of cyclists. They met a gruesome fate when confronted by five members of ISIS. On July 29th, a car driven by the ISIS members rammed the bikers. The men exited the van and began stabbing the bikers, killing Austin and Geoghegan, along with the other bikers. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack in a video featuring the killers posing with an ISIS flag and pledging allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. According to the New York Times, the men vowed to kill the “disbelievers.”
And yes, they were doing it to prove a point that people aren’t bad.
And no, it has nothing to do with “far right”
Look, there is a true part: the killing by isis guys.
And there is a lie: it wasn't isis territory. If I get shot by an American in Canada, it's still not American territory.
And the second lie is about why they where on their journey. They did it because they liked to travel. That's it. They posted about the warm welcome and the generosity of the people they've met so far, but that's it.
And that's where Kim is right: those lies are a far right myth. They are told to imply that you can't travel to Muslim countries and that there are no good people.
If I travel to the US and get killed by a mass shooter, that's bad. If someone claims, I went to the US to prove that not all Americans are stupid rednecks with guns and got killed while trying to prove this point, it's a completely different story and you should ask yourself why it's told this way.
Your sentence about "proving a point that people aren't bad" is incorrect, this was fact-checked, one of the 6 killed persons just said that in an interview where the journalist asked why they were biking around the world (not necessarily in Muslim countries) and the question had nothing to do with biking in Tadjikistan nor Muslim countries.
And yes it has everything to do with far-right as it's been spreading all over far-right sites for years, with all the same unchecked bullsh#t inside (millenials / run through ISIS territory / tried to prove humans were kind). First of all, that's not even a thing. Secondly, I don't suppose you can explain WHY Kim is a troll? And maybe you should learn what a troll actually is. Trolls usually don't present facts and links with proof to back it up. And they're usually not looking for relevance either.
