"Some kind of disposable paper like a napkin, kleenex, baby wipes, even an old shop towel. Nothing worse than needing to blow your nose in your car and you have nothing at all to use."
"First aid kit"
"One of those things for breaking windows in case of an accident and the doors don’t open."
"Jumper cables"
"Better yet a portable jump starter battery (like the NOCO boost). Those things are amazing. They hold a charge for months in blazing hot or freezing cold temps. They are the size of a brick. And best of all since they attach to the dead battery directly, you don’t have to hope your jumper cables are long enough."
"Seriously, a dashcam."
"True. Half of having insurance is.. proof."
"I keep a headlamp instead of a flashlight. That way I can have both hands if I need to change a tire or something."
"Explosives
You’re stuck in a flipped car? Explosives
You’re too cold? Explosives
You’re stuck in front of that one guy who is chasing you because you “allegedly” broke into his house and raided his bedroom for a magenta hot wheel?
Explosives"
"A blanket. Shock from a traumatic injury can cause a sharp drop in body temperature."
"Emergency cash, I keep like $40 usd"
"If you’re going on a road trip, stash enough cash to pay for gas to get back. If you lose your wallet you can still get home."
"Tow ropes"
"These collapsible box/crate things. They lay flat in your trunk when you don’t need them, but if you need them to help keep groceries, fragile items, or whatever from rolling around your trunk, you pop them up accordingly. My dad gave me some and I’ve been using them for years, they’re incredibly useful."
"A towel. My dog loves to swim and run through any puddle he can find. It’s also nice to have in case you get caught in some rain."
"A portable tire inflator. Use it to check/top up my tires before every road trip just in case. You can do it at one of those gas station ones, but for 30 bucks it’s great piece of mind."
"I own one of these and in just over a year’s time it has literally saved my @$$ on 3 different occasions. If the tire isn’t totaled the pump can get you back to full and get you home and you can figure out if a long-term fix is required. But sometimes tires just go flat and need a quick fill-up."
"A barf bucket. Had my dog and my kid both puke in my car."
"Multi phone charger"
"An Umbrella"
"Ice scrapper or that one spray that de-ices glass on contact"
"A lighter. A lot of cars come without cigarette lighters now apparently. In an emergency you could try rigging something up using your car battery to start a fire to either stay warm or signal someone. Or you could just flick a bic. Lighters cost 50 cents. It’s not a big investment and it might save your life."
"If you have a built or project car its always good to have a fire extinguisher somewhere. I’ve seen too many videos of people’s dream cars on fire and they can’t do anything"
"A licensed competent driver."
#13 Tires don’t just go flat.
