"Fancy cupcakes. Every ‘designer’ cupcake I’ve had has been incredibly dry. I just don’t get why they charge $5-$10 per serving, but the quality of the cake is below a Walmart sheet cake."

"Gold-flaked cuisine"

"The most expensive dishes. “Yeah, man these diamonds sautéed in truffle oil and emerald dust are good, but do you have a cheeseburger?”"

"American Italian. It’s heavy and repetitive."

"Deconstructed anything."

"I am sick of the whole “bacon life” meme. It was funny for a couple of decades, but enough already. Bacon “flavored” anything is disgusting."

"Any foam or mousse from a Michelin star restaurant. Pigeon foam. Wtf did I just pay $200 to eat?"

"Salt bae…."

"Lobster. It’s fine, it’s just not really worth it’s cost imo. I also like eating it in things rather than by itself. The lobster rolls I had in Maine were much better than lobster straight up."

"Modern UK ‘pub’ grub. It’s utter sh#t now."

"Expensive Italian, a 30 dollar pasta is straight robbery"

"French. It’s considered super fancy, but every time I’ve ever seen it, it looks disgusting and sounds like it only tastes good because of everything drowning in butter."

"Any restaurant where portion sizes get smaller as the price goes up is the very height of epicurean pretentiousness. Like if they actually serve you enough food to be satisfied, it might as well be McDonald’s."

"“Something for everyone” restaurants. Anywhere where the menu has a ridiculously extensive offering. If I’m flipping multiple pages and not even halfway, I just know everything is about to taste questionable."

"Truffles. Massively expensive. Texturally unappealing. Overpowering."

"All these people saying Thai is overrated have never had good Thai food."

"Insanely unhealthy Southern food.

As a life long resident of the South, a ton of popular Southern food is mediocre meat that is breaded and deep fried. The primary flavor is fried breading. Given astronomical rate lifestyle-related disease in the South, elevating food that is both super unhealthy and also unsurprisingly flavored is just mindbogglingly."

"Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant was sh#t. It genuinely made me question everything I’ve seen him criticize and wonder “does this guy just have horrible taste?”"

"Cake.

Ignoring coffee and booze, it’d have to be cake. people care more about how it looks and photographs than how it taste. it has its own reality show."

"Steak. I call it the steak cult. For the life of me, I cannot understand it."

Susie,

A good steak, done correctly (medium rare or rare) is wonderful! Hardly a cult, though. Vegan or vegetarianism, now that is a cult!

#17 is idiotic but this is pretty good overall.

The bigger the menu in a restaurant, the worse the overall quality is going to be. They cannot keep enough fresh ingredients and train the chefs well enough to do all that cr#p well, so you end up with tons of prepared and frozen stuff thrown together.

Most of these are correct. Obviously the bacon and steak are incorrect.

#20 Steaks are like any other cut of meat in that it takes skill to bring out the best texture and flavour. Keep it simple.

#16 Thai is usually coconut or lemongrass flavored and I don't like either.

I'll have Chinese Chinese any day

#20 Understanding the steak has to do with people who have butchered many kinds of animals and has respect for what it takes to get a good size piece of muscle with a proper cross-grain cut and decent fat marbling. It's rare on an animal.
