Our society has norms. And who is not following those norms are pushed away from the society. Thats why crime and punishment exists.
Maybe in the open society was never existed for a reason.
Even in the nature there are rules for those animals which are living in society.
Masks may not prevent you catching an airborne virus but they prevent you from sneezing it around. You don't wear a mask for yourself but for the people around you.
Further, in an open society you _are_ obliged to help. If I find you collapsed and bleeding on the floor I am obliged to save your life, and you are obliged to save mine. And that's not about society at all, that's a basic law for every decent human beeing. What you describe is not about open society but about beeing a stupid @$$hole not giving a sh#t about people around you. Behaving that way is guruanteed to give you a kick in the face in the future.
