Corporate thinking: Why make a hundred million curing a disease, when you can make billions continuing to treat it.
And then use some of that money to work on treatments for half a dozen other ailments.
Yeah, sounds so smart, but look: find a treatment and share the money with other companies. Find the first cure and get all the money for yourself. Find the vaccine and prevent people from becoming ill and get the money from everyone. And the older people become, the more drugs do they need just to stay alive.
That is not how cancer works. while there are classifications like liver or breast cancer it is still a mutation in your own cells which makes every cancer unique so a broad-spectrum cure just won't happen unless it's nanobots or some crazy sh#t.
