#2 Japanese people amaze me. Considerate, disciplined, friendly. Also great contrast between high tech and tradition. I'd love to be able to spend a couple of years there.

Isidore,

I agree, but being a student of history, I just can't forget what they did to civilians in China and during WW2. Just nightmarish evil things.

Patience,

Every nation did cruel things at some point in time. But what happened back then is not necessarily an accurate representation of the nation's current way of thinking. Time passes, things change. You can't blame people people for crimes that happened before they were even born.

reading things like this just make me realize how f-ed up America is. I know no place is perfect, but just things like overeating, healthcare, crime, political system... just completely messed up.

#31 Like a lot of us, I take care of that first thing in the morning before I shower and get dressed for the day.

They also sell individual packets of wet-wipes in bundles of one hundred for when necessary.

All countries have cultural or culinary customs that others find off-putting or just plain wrong.

With the world filling up and seemingly getting smaller, in a few dozen generations we will all look more alike, act alike, and these cultural differences that make us different and the world an interesting place to explore will be a thing of the past. Mores the pity.

Rian, that’s what I was thinking too. Most people in the US time their “movement” before a shower. A bidet is just as bad as TP - just spreading bacteria and filth around.

#31 Yeah, we don't like to use wet tissue because it just falls apart. And most don't like having their privates sprayed with water and pulling up underwear over a wet bum.

Algeria about 40 years ago. I worked there for 2 months, if you wanted a coke or a bottle of wine or beer to take home, you had to bring an empty bottle. I asked where do I get my first empty? I was told to steal it.
Muslim country, don`t they cut your hand off for stealing?
