“Dogs evolved the use of muscles around their eyes that allow them to be expressive with their eyes (the famous puppy dog eyes). This is not seen in any other species in the Canidae family. Humans just live too long. Most animals have a handful of years to live. American opossums only live 3-4 and make incredibly great pets for the first 2. Then they hit maturity and need to run free and breed. Then they raise their young for a year and die, like an Octopus...

#1 Sort of, their sent is obvious from the poo, but the scratches are marks they can see later to avoid walking in it. At least according to my dog. She hates stepping in poop.
