As far as being older than 'America': that had to be written by someone from the good ol' US of A, because they're forgetful of the fact that the entire Western hemisphere is the Americas. But while 'North Americans' were living in log cabins in the woods, Central and South Americas had universities and a standard of living approaching that of Europe, since the 1500s. So the whale may be older than US constitution, it was not even close to older than the more civilized Central and South Americas.
