It's to measure how far you can reach while doing a sit up, indicating your BMI. The fact you don't know this, or what BMI means, shows you came from a generation where gym class was made an elective and 'body positivity' courses took it's place because fatty feelings are more important than health in 2024.
BMI = weight in kg / height in metres²
The fact that someone doesn't know that machine mirrors the fact that it is total bullsh#t to indicate a BMI, just get a measuring tape and a scale and calculate it.
BMI is as obsolete as Phrenology. I'm 6ft tall with 210 lbs of lean muscle with 7% body fat. The BMI scale calculates me as overweight.
