half Norwegian, half German here.

That's not true, in Germany can you get a pennealty, if the supermarked gives away outdated food.
Those aples would be treated as rubbish and the police or the "Ordnungsamt" would fine you.

But the story isn't completely false:
This is often practised in Norway.

Arly,
thank you for setting things straight. Rules and regulations taken to a ludicrous level at our northern neighbors. We have foodsharing freezers and boxes here in Austria, tho where everyone can take and leave food at his own risk.

#21 Sounds like Bullshit. Normal sea level pressure is 1000 millibars. Hypoxia can begin at 700 millibars. Mount Everest summit is about 350 nillibars. Thus people will run out of oxygen long before reaching the summit.

Natius,
Wrong. The Austrian Reinhold Messner did it first without oxygen on May the 8th 1978.

Natius,

Sounds smart, but shows ignorance. Many local sherpa assistants make the trip without any oxygen everyday. It's just those who are not acclimated that need oxygen.

#45 Cars that run on alcohol emit the same water vapor, and most modern cars can run off alcohol with minor modifications, they just need petrol to start the car. They are 85/15 cars.
