You dont have to spend a fortune to get rid of bed bugs. In fact hiring an exterminator to come in and use chemicals and sprays probably won't help at all.
It's a pain, but what you should do instead is start by throwing out anything in your house you don't need. Clean the house from top to bottom. And finally take any clothes, linens, etc and wash and dry them on the highest heat possible. Take them out the dryer, put them in black garbage bags, and leave them outside until your done with the rest of the steps.
Now cover your bed and and cloth furniture you can with hypoallergenic, bed bug proof covers. These will stay on for the next 3-4 years.
Now buy some food grade diatomaceous earth and pour it over EVERY inch of your house. Then vacuumed it up in a vacuum with a hypoallergenic bag. Empty the bags outside. Once you do this, pour the powder over every surface again. You will now live like this for at least a month but more like 3-6. Once the house is covered again set off a bed bug bomb. This won't kill them but it will send them running. They'll pass over 5he diatomaceous earth, which is crushed seashell fossils with a microscopic crystalline structure that cuts the bugs and dries them out.
After the month vacuumed up all the diatomaceous earth again, same way as before. Finally create an unbroken perimeter of the diatomaceous earth around the walls of your house. Leave this there for about a year.
To prevent bed bugs in the first place, keep your bed up on legs and away from your wall. Keep hypoallergenic bed bug proof covers on your bedding and furniture. If you travel, check your hotel bed before using it. Check the seams closely as the hide and can be hard to see. If you see little black marks that looks like someone made dots with a sharpie on the bed or around outlets on the wall that's bed bug excrement. Don't use dressers in hotels. Keep your suitcase off the bed and on the center of a table.
Change and wash your clothes as soon as you get home after using a plane/train/bus. Don't pick up any furniture off the curb no matter how nice it looks. Buy traps to but under your bed frame legs and check them regularly.
Bed bugs do not discriminate based on race or wealth. It doesn't matter if you are poor or rich (no matter what the imbecile above thinks)
Also, if you have a partner/significant other and they are getting bit up but you arent, you may think it's not bed bugs bc you share a bed. This is actually EXACTLY how it normally works. They just prefer some people to others. Two people cam sleep in one bed together and only one of them gets bit.
If you are finding small red bumps in a tight grouping on your skin it's probably bed bugs. They tend to bite 3 times or more in the same general .
