These common words and expressions are used incorrectly by most of the population. Stop following the crowd and start getting a little smarter today!
ATM Machine - Do you realize that you are saying “machine” twice? That’s right – the M in ATM stands for machine. Cut it out.
Chai Tea - Chai means tea over most of the world. “Tea tea’? No.
Rice Pilaf - Pilaf means rice ball. So don’t bother asking for’ rice rice’ next time.
Ahi Tuna Fish - Ahi straight-up translates to tuna. Absolutely no point repeating yourself.
Sahara Desert - Same thing here: Sahara means desert. It is an epic desert, but you don’t have to force the point.
PIN Number - You got it: the N in PIN stands for number. So, “enter your Personal Identification Number number” seems a little unnecessary.
Panini Sandwich - A panini is a sandwich in Italy. So unless you want two of them, there’s nada reason for saying this.
Naan Bread - When you order or refer to naan, just say that. It’s a type of bread, so don’t embarrass yourself by asking for bread bread.
Veggie Soy - Yep, soy is vegetarian. Ain’t no such thing as soy meat. That’s the point. So don’t stumble on this one..
Shrimp Scampi - You got it: scampi means shrimp. Don’t bother wasting a word on this one.
Please RSVP - RSVP already has “please” in it. So what’s with asking “please reply please”? Sounds desperate.
3AM In The Morning - We all know that AM = morning. Save your breath a little.
LCD Display - “Liquid Crystal Display Display.” Forget it.
Queso Cheese - Queso is Spanish for cheese. Don’t be cheezy. Say it once.
False Pretenses - When someone is putting on “pretenses”, they are being false. Just call it as it is.
La Brea Tar Pits - The Spanish name for the tar is La Brea. That means when are referring to ‘em, you’re saying “The The Tar Tar Pits.” Not in my house.
Support Bra - Yep, a bra is for the support of your breasts. That is exactly why it is worn. Should go without saying.
Carne Asada Steak - In the Spanish language, carne asada IS grilled steak. So don’t state the obvious.
Los Angeles Angels - It doesn’t take a genius to work out that “Angeles” stands for angels in Spanish. Use your brain, save your time.
