Noa Jansma, a 20-year-old Amsterdam-based student, was so tired of being catcalled, that she decided to take selfies with each and every catcaller she encountered in September. She then proceeded to post the photos on her Instagram, captioning them with the phrases she heard from them. Although her experiment has ended, she has opened the @dearcatcallers Instagram page, so that other victims of catcalling could do the same.
They are taken by Barbara Peacock, a successful American commercial photographer from Portland, Oregon. She started this series to display hidden and transparent complexities of who Americans are as individuals and a nation.
Wara Art Festival has been taking place in Niigata City since 2008 as a collaboration between the city’s tourism division and the Musashino Art University. Rice straws left after the harvest are used to create massive astonishing sculptures.
