In a beautiful part of southern China there are some mountains called the Southern Sky Column Mountains which have recently been renamed to the Avatar Hallelujah Mountains after the floating mountains that were featured in the blockbuster movie Avatar. The floating Hallelujah Mountains in the movie were the inspiration of a Hollywood photographer who, in 2008, shot photos of the Southern Sky Column Mountains. Now, tourists can go on a tour to see Avatar's floating mountain and learn that they were once called the Southern Sky Mountains.
A funny illustrated guide to learn “the most feared punctuation on Earth” :))
Learning grammar has never been cooler…
If you enjoyed “WTF Retro Pictures”, we think you will enjoy these as well. Can you imagine the nerve of the people playing tennis on the wing of a flying airplane, or the hilarity of an obese man riding a mini bike? And my but didn’t the girls go wild over rock and roll stars of days gone by. How ridiculous is it to have a bear taking a picture of a little boy or one of the first flying saucers? Equally amazing are a cowboy and his horse drinking from the same pond. Ah, the good old days. It is truly amazing that mankind survived them, yet we have such fond memories of them.
Along with the Internet came numerous social websites and blogging. Now you can interact with practically anyone and along the way you are sure to run into some mighty strange folks. From people who exhibit strange body art to folks who have some very strange habits, pets, and live in weird places, to those who have strange philosophies and take pictures of themselves in every position imaginable. Welcome to the Internet where you can meet some very strange folk indeed.
That is one of the things that separate us from the animals. How else can you explain 11 year old Dayton Hennessey who is able to wrestle, successfully at that, with both arms and both legs amputated as a result of a life threatening bacterial infection? This little boy from the Virginia suburbs shows moxie and courage far beyond his years. Not only does he wrestle but he also leads a very athletic and happy life doing things like riding his scooter around his neighborhood, ice skating, or playing football. His zest for life and drive to achieve can be summed up in three words; The Human Spirit. It should be an inspiration to us all.
Artist Matthew Albanese created a “Sugarscape” out of corn syrup, jelly, and twenty pounds of sugar. Although the model may look like scene directly from Antarctica it took the artist over two months to grow the crystals in his studio. He also used such materials as paprika for his Martian landscape, cotton and many others to give this incredible illusion of something real. So if you have ever seen a landscape that you thought looked good enough to eat; now you have seen the real thing. It is truly a work of art.
The amount of abstract art can be obtained from the frozen Mississippi river is truly amazing. There are sheets of frozen water as clear as any window and chunks of ice in every shape imaginable. A frozen river can provide years of inspiration to sculptors and artists alike. A frozen river is beautiful is a beautiful sight to behold whether up close and personal or from afar. Mother Nature can be truly inspiring.
Little boys will have uncanny ability to make toys to play with out of just about anything that is available to them. From imaginary headphones made from strands of wire to scooters made from scraps of old wood with carved wheels to airplanes made from coat hangers and cardboard, boys always manage to figure out a way to make something to play with. It is truly a credit to the human spirit and the science of engineering that boys will always have toys.
That old adage seems to be true as does the one that says that there is someone for everyone. So what difference does size or weight make anyway? Much the same as age difference, it would appear not much. If two people are happy together why should physical characteristic or chronological differences make in a relationship. It is all about what one person sees in another, not about what the rest of see in them. All that really matters is what makes them happy. In fact, if they are happy we should be happy for them, right?
One would think that it would only take some dynamite to bring a standing bridge down, however that is not the case. It would appear that it takes a good many man hours to destroy a bridge, especially if the bridge was made in China almost entirely from trash in the first place. Much of the trash that was used to construct the bridge must be removed by hand. It probably takes half as much work to destruct a bridge as it does to construct one. Thus, what starts out as trash ends up as trash. It turns out to be a good way to recycle.
Wives can be rather funny at times. Especially when the husband least expects it. Who would think that a simple lunch note left on the fridge could bring such happiness to a hungry man who has come home from the office for lunch. With titles like “On top of your pizza” and “Dear salad” the recipients of these notes must have had a good laugh. So ladies, if you want to bring a little humor to your man’s life, try leaving him a funny lunch note on the fridge. If you believe in one good turn doing another, he may just repay the favor that evening. At the very least, he will be in a good mood…
Although many people don’t realize it, a person stands to lose a lot more than just what‘s in the bet when they gamble. Gambling is an addiction just as serious as drugs or alcohol. People have gotten themselves so far in debt that they have committed suicide over their losses. Even if you don’t take your own life, lose to the wrong person or crowd and someone else may take it for you. So if you gamble, be careful and never bet more than you can comfortably afford to lose. Your very life may depend on it.
If you wondered Why It’s Better Not to Celebrate the New Year in China (22 pics), you are really going to be amazed at the goings on during the Chinese Festival. With the population in China it is amazing that these people ever get anywhere. Not only do they not have private transportation, for which there are insufficient roads anyway, but there public transportation systems are absolutely packed beyond belief. People are stacked like cordwood everywhere and there is absolutely no where you can go and be alone.
You would be hard pressed to convince some people that global warming really exists. Sure there’s that old scientific evidence that the glaciers are melting and our seas are rising. But does that kind of evidence stand up to the millions of people who live in climates that are nearly sub freezing year around? No wonder there is such skepticism. Just how does one go about rationalizing the inch or so of water that has risen in the Atlantic Ocean over the last few decades to the fact that their car won’t start on a frozen morning after receiving three feet of snow the night before?
It is not that surprising nowadays, everything is possible.
Well, long live newlyweds!

Just how does one sister manage to get so tan while the other is so white? Do they run in completely separate social circles? Perhaps Justine doesn’t have a job and can’t afford the dues at the tanning booth. Maybe they are exact opposites and Justine’s sister likes the outdoors while Justine is an indoor girl. Perhaps it is a fake tan and Justine feels it is unethical to wear something fake. In any event it seems to be another mystery in life that may go on forever and will never be answered. Does it really matter? They are both beautiful girls, tan or not.
At approximately 6:30 on bright and sunny morning, adrenaline junkie Jonathan Trappe attached 55 balloons filled with helium to a steel cased office chair and soared to nearly 15,000 feet. It became his dream to break free from his desk and take to the skies after watching the movie UP. He managed to reach a height of some 14,783 feet while sitting in an office chair. He had to obtain an FAA license to fly helium balloons. Mr. Trappe rose in the sky at a rate of 521 feet per minute. Now, after the flight he still sits in the same chair at work. And you thought you had big cojones.
Recently we have posted an entry: Dance for the Prince (6 pics), with colorful dancers, performing for the Prince their traditional Maori battle dance - Haka.
Naturally, photoshoppeurs could not pass by these vivid characters and made the cool photomontage you'll see after the jump.
The Sky Bridge is located in the Langkawi archipelago in Malaysia. It is a cable-stayed bridge that rises 700 meters above sea level and spans over 125 meters in length and 1,8 meters in width. It is supported by only one support column.
The bridge offers an amazing view over the island.
