Yesterday's post “Welcome to Romania” has raised a wave of discontent among our visitors from Romania. They wrote angry comments and letters and requests to refute, modify and even remove the post.
We decided not to do so, but simply to explain it.
First. We didn’t make this post by choosing a picture by picture aiming to find the “ugliest” photos. We have just republished a very old collection of pictures, which is already more than 2 years old and which has long ago been around the entire internet and was published on every second site.
Second. We did not want to offend anyone. Izismile is created for other purposes. Do not take everything so personally. If these photos exist and are all over the internet, it means that they have the right to exist on our website too. Plus, everybody knows that there are bad and good things in each country. But sometimes, it’s better to look at bad things with irony and a smile.
Third. This is not the first or the only compilation of this kind.
We already have collections about Russia and Africa.
Fourth. We have no doubt that Romania is a wonderful and beautiful country with nice and kind people.
That is what one of the visitors wrote us. I quote: "I am a big fan of your website...i always check the pics you post every morning before going to work while i drink my coffee. I think they're all amazing. Today when i checked the website i felt really offended because of the pics you posted from Romania. Although they are old and cost you alot like you said, you managed to make me and probably some other Romanian people really sad. The pictures do not reverberate how really Romania is. I hope people who check your website will not get a wrong idea about my country. It's not like the pictures shows. Your thread should have been named gipsies in Romania not welcome to Romania. I'm writing this e-mail in hope that you will find other pics to post there and show the world how beautiful Romania is..You just let some pics with gipsies to speak for themselves about how my country is...It's really wrong and it makes me really angry...Maybe you should take a look at the links below..."

It happened in the suburb of Moscow. Luckily, the female driver was not injured. But I can’t figure out how she could put her Hyundai Getz in this position!

Roger Federer was "attacked" by Jimmy Jump, a spectator known in Spain for his escapades on the tennis courts. Jimmy Jump tried to put a flag of FC Barcelona on the head of Federer but the security guards run on him and it was quickly cleared. Some photos and video await you after the jump.

I was quite impressed with this train. It can be truthfully called – the Pride of Africa!
The Pride of Africa is a luxury train which is run by Rovos Rail. It is billed as the World's Most Luxurious Train. It travels through South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania.
Rovos rail was established in 1989.

This unusual performance was held in Nantes by Royal de Luxe theatre.
The marionettes size is impressive. It sent chills down my spine ;)

Not long ago, we had a post on the subject of the threat of plastic wastes, which weighs on our planet.
The threat is very serious, but it is true that not all plastic things must be discarded or recycled. We can make something interesting and fun with it.
Here are two good examples.

Every year at Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert, near Los Angeles, one of the most exciting airshow takes place.
Apart from all the historical aircrafts, the most modern and advanced aircrafts are represented there.
Plus, it is the only one airshow where you can hear the military aircrafts break the sound barrier.

This car is really well done and it could scare a lot of children, but this baby must be too young to be scared. Good for him.

Only 2 shots – the first was taken when the person was a child and the second - when the person was already an adult. The interesting thing is that people tried to take a picture by having the same pose as they had when they were children and by putting on the clothes that resemble the clothes they wore on the picture.

A caricature of a funny situation that happened during the World Athletics Championship.

Students that finished high school, tried to decompress themselves before this very important exams that started yesterday morning across China. This year, there will be more than 10 million students to take these exams.

The contest is finished and the final results are already known.
The work that won are in the end of the post, but even the works that ended on the last positions are worthy of attention, so let’s have a look.

The Exocoetidae or flying fish are a marine fish family comprising about 50 species grouped in 7 to 9 genera. Flying fish are found in all of the major oceans, particularly in the warm tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. Their most striking feature is their pectoral fins, which are unusually large, and enable the fish to take short gliding flights through air, above the surface of the water, in order to escape from predators. Their glides are typically around 50m, but they can use updrafts at the leading edge of waves to cover distances of at least 400m.
