One man tried to dig a little by using a post hole digger without calling utility locating service which is required to do before you do any digging.
And what you see on these pictures is a result of his digging. He actually hit an underground cross county gas pipe…
P.S. I don’t know what happened to this guy but by looking on the photos there’s only one conclusion that comes to mind…

if the gas pipe had been the correct depth in the ground,,,,,, there is noway a posthole digger could have caused this damage,,,,,,,,,the fault is with the gas company and not the guy................

typically the pipe trench is 10' deep, leaving 7-8' of cover depending on size of pipe. hard to tell from the pics how deep this one was, plus it might not have been marked properly--- no matter what, CALL before you dig!!!!! this guy was literally blown away, they never found him, just bits & pieces of the tractor
