They are kind of old soldiers but with assault rifles.

They are an elite force. It's very hard to get in the swiss guard.
They look funny but aren't to be messed with.

they are a unnecessary joke. not elite at all. only meant too appear elite. they are ceremonial soldiers with some self defense training or maybe tourist attraction. they do carry pistols and sub-machines. however nothing about their outfit nor armor show efficiency to modern fighting tactic. Many of you have been reading or watching too many fiction stories. please read your history and facts first.
