All these photos were taken in the small Russian town of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk with a population of 180 thousand people. I would say it’s kind of a Russian ghetto. And this is a country that has huge reserves of oil and gas?
Yeah, quite normal pictures.The author apparently does not know the meaning of the word ghetto (and probably lives in a very good neighborhood, he should check small towns in Michigan that were left without jobs with auto industry outsourcing).
this is coming from an artists point of wiew and all. there's a beauty behind the dreary look of it, i find it a sort of "dimand in the rough". it just picks at you in a way you feel bad for the people living in those conditions knowing they deserve better but, you can't help but see a form of elogance. it would be nice to make the conditions better i must say, no one deserves to live like that. but again, i see it from an artists point of view.
